Biography

Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar (born 1 January 1972) is a Pakistani politician from Multan who has served in the National Assembly of Pakistan across several terms since 2014. His father was Senator Malik Salah-ud-Din Dogar.

Dogar holds an MA in Political Science and an LLB. He was elected Mayor of Multan in 2002 and later won a seat in the Provincial Assembly of Punjab on a Pakistan Peoples Party ticket in 2008. In 2014, contesting as an independent candidate backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), he won a closely watched National Assembly by-election in Multan, defeating veteran politician Javed Hashmi.

Dogar was re-elected to the National Assembly on a PTI ticket in 2018, and served as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs from 2020 to 2022 during Imran Khan’s government, alongside chairing a National Assembly standing committee.

In the 2024 general election, Dogar was re-elected from NA-149 Multan-II as a PTI-backed independent candidate, defeating businessman-politician Jahangir Tareen. He unsuccessfully contested the position of Speaker of the National Assembly, and currently serves as Chief Whip of PTI’s parliamentary party in the National Assembly.
