Biography

Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani (born 29 April 1981) is a Pakistani politician from Multan and a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since February 2024. He is the son of Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, who served as Prime Minister of Pakistan from 2008 to 2012, and represents the continuation of the Gillani family’s political presence in Multan.

Gilani was born in Lahore and earned an LLB (Hons) from the University of Hertfordshire in 2003. He was elected unopposed to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab in June 2008, and won a National Assembly by-election in July 2012 from NA-151 Multan-IV, his father’s former constituency.

Gilani was unable to retain the seat in the 2013 general election, and also contested unsuccessfully from Multan in the 2018 election. He returned to the National Assembly in the 2024 general election, winning NA-152 Multan-V as a candidate of the Pakistan Peoples Party.
