Rahat Bano Multanikar is a contemporary Saraiki and Punjabi folk singer from Multan, Punjab, and the youngest daughter of the legendary Suraiya Multanikar, one of the most celebrated voices in Saraiki classical and folk music. Carrying forward her mother’s musical legacy, Rahat has built her own career performing traditional Saraiki Kafi, Sufi Kalam and folk songs on Pakistani television and at cultural festivals.
Rahat has spoken about her deep respect for classical raga traditions within Saraiki music, referencing ragas such as Tilung, Jhok and Behrvi as part of the musical heritage she draws upon. She has performed at prominent cultural events, including the Urs of the great Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, where she presented the classical Kafi “Peeloon Pakiyan Way,” and has appeared on national broadcasts including ATV’s “ATV Lounge” program.
As the daughter of Suraiya Multanikar, Rahat occupies a unique position bridging the golden era of Radio Pakistan-associated Saraiki music with a new generation of listeners, helping preserve and pass forward the region’s rich tradition of Kafi and Sufi Kalam.
