Every summer, Multan celebrates the king of fruits. South Punjab is the heartland of Pakistani mango growing, and mango festivals and exhibitions showcase the harvest at its peak.
The Mango Heartland
The orchards of ملتان, رحیم یار خان, Muzaffargarh تے Khanewal produce Pakistan’s most celebrated varieties — Chaunsa, Anwar Ratol, Sindhri, Langra and dozens more. Mangoes are among Pakistan’s flagship exports, and the summer harvest is a season of pride across the Waseeb.
What Happens at the Festival
Mango festivals and exhibitions — organised at various times by agriculture departments, growers’ associations and private organisers — feature displays and tasting of dozens of varieties, competitions among growers, mango-based foods, and stalls of regional crafts. Events are typically held in June and July when the main varieties ripen; dates and venues change from year to year, so check local announcements each season.
