He is remembered alongside contemporaries such as Pathanay Khan, Zahida Parveen, Ustad Allah Dad of Bahawalpur and Abida Parveen as one of the artists who transformed the predominantly folk structure of Kafi singing into a highly embellished semi-classical form during the mid-to-late twentieth century.
