He belongs to the Mazari Baloch tribe and is a grandson of Balakh Sher Mazari, who served as caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan in 1993.<\/p>\n<p>Mazari graduated from the University of Karachi in 2002. He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan from NA-175 Rajanpur-II on a Pakistan Peoples Party ticket in 2008, later serving as Parliamentary Secretary for Water and Power and, from 2012, as Minister of State for Communications.<\/p>\n<p>After an unsuccessful bid for the National Assembly in 2013, Mazari was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Punjab from PP-297 Rajanpur-V on a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ticket in 2018 and was elected Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly. He was removed from that post via a no-confidence motion in July 2022 amid the constitutional crisis that unfolded in Punjab&#8217;s provincial government that year.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2023, Mazari joined the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz).
